Ceremony

What does each ceremony consist of?

  • Intention Setting

Before a Kambo ceremony, it is essential to set a clear and heartfelt intention, a conscious acknowledgment of what you wish to release or heal, whether physical, emotional, or spiritual. This intention serves as your anchor and compass, helping you stay centered throughout the experience. It also guides the medicine, directing its energy toward the areas within you that are most ready to be healed and cleansed.

  • Sage Cleansing

Sage is used to clear stagnant, heavy, or negative energies. The smoke from burning sage neutralizes energy. For the person being cleansed, it acts as a reset, grounding the body, calming the mind, and opening the heart to intention and connection. Before a Kambo ceremony, it is especially important, as it clears distractions, releases fear and prepares both the space and participant to receive the medicine in purity and presence.

  • Mapacho Ceremony

Before Kambo, Mapacho is used to center the mind, open the heart and ground a person into their body. The smoke acts as a spiritual armor, purifying the energetic field, dispelling dense or negative energies. It helps align the participant’s breath and focus, calming anxiety or restlessness while grounding them firmly into the ceremony.

  • Traditional Matses Kambo Ceremony

The Kambo Ceremony begins with opening of the space and a prayer of gratitude, followed by meditation on the number and placement of points. The points are prepared and cleaned, the Kambo medicine is applied and participants sit with the medicine for 20-25 minutes before the purge, release and final removal of the medicine.

Preparation

The days before your Kambo ceremony mark the beginning of your ceremony. Its a time to cleanse, ground, and create space in your body, mind, and spirit. It is a time to really feel into your intention and what you are looking to heal and release.

Intention Setting

Spend time journaling and connecting with why you are sitting with Kambo and what you wish to release or invite into your life. Intention setting is about creating a focused, heart-centered direction for your healing. A clear, honest intention can transform your experience from a simple detox into a profound moment of self-awareness, surrender and renewal.

Cleanse the Body

  • Eat light, clean, and natural foods — focus on organic, alkaline, plant-based meals.

  • Avoid alcohol, drugs, caffeine, supplements, processed foods and sweeteners.

  • Refrain from sexual activity.

  • Stay well-hydrated with clean, mineral-rich water (unsweetened).

  • Do not engage in colonics, enemas, liver flushes, or water fasts during this time.

  • Begin gentle mindfulness practices such as meditation or yoga.

The Day Before & Morning Of Ceremony

  • Fast for 8–10 hours before ceremony.

  • Avoid saunas, sweat lodges, and hot tubs the day before.

  • Wear loose, comfortable white or light-colored clothing that allows access to shoulders or ankles.

  • Drink 2.5 liters of water before arriving for your ceremony.

Integration

Integration

The Importance of Integration

Integration is where the true medicine of Kambo takes root. The ceremony itself is just the beginning; integration is how you weave the insights, emotions, and physical shifts into your everyday life.

After Kambo, your body, mind, and spirit are in a heightened state of awareness and receptivity. You’ve cleared old patterns, toxins, and emotions, now you must consciously fill that space with nourishment, presence, and new choices.

Without integration, the experience can fade like a dream.

With mindful integration, the transformation becomes embodied.

- Immediate Aftercare
Rest & Rehydrate:  Your body has done deep work, give it quiet time and pure water or coconut water.

Eat Light & Nourishing foods: Gentle soups, fruits, and vegetables. Avoid heavy, greasy, or processed foods.

Minimize Stimulation: Reduce screen time, news, and loud environments.

- Physical Support — Nurturing the Body
Hydration Ritual: Sip water mindfully throughout the day. Add minerals or lemon to replenish electrolytes. Possibly replace Coffee with Green Teas.

Gentle Movement: Yoga, stretching, or walking to help energy circulate without taxing the body.

Nutrient Rebuild: Focus on whole, fresh foods to support cellular recovery.
Be mindful to reduce Sugars and Salt in your diet.

Restorative Sleep: Allow yourself extra hours of rest — healing deepens during sleep cycles.

- Emotional Processing — Making Space for Feelings
Journaling: Write freely, capture insights, dreams, and emotions.

Be extra aware of your thought patterns and allow any negative thoughts to pass without allowing them to become emotions. Do not allow old triggers to set you off. Be as compassionate as possible with others realizing they are going through their own problems.

Art Expression: Draw, paint, dance, or play music to translate feelings into form.

Trusted Conversations: Share with people who understand the process.

- Spiritual Integration — Honoring the Medicine
Ceremony Reflection: Meditate on experience, what you released, how your body feels now after, how your thought patterns have shifted and lessons received.

Nature Connection: Spend time outdoors to ground and receive further clarity.
Earthing (Walking Barefoot) and swimming in nature are particularly good ways to ground and cleanse the body.

Daily Mindfulness: Begin or deepen meditation, breathwork, or prayer practices.

- Lifestyle Adjustments — Living the Lessons
Release Old Habits: Notice cravings, addictions, or patterns that feel less aligned, Kambo gives a window to let them go.

Anchor New Habits: Introduce nourishing routines, healthy boundaries, and self-care practices.

Community Support: Stay connected with like-minded people or a Kambo integration circle.

Purpose Alignment: Let your choices reflect the clarity and strength you’ve received.

Integration is where healing becomes your new way of being, not just something that happened in ceremony, but something that continues to unfold in your daily life.
